Chocolate Cake
Ingredients Recipe
Tin preparation
2 tbs Cocoa Powder
Batter
1 3/4 cups All Purpose Flour
1/2 cup Melted Unsalted Butter
3/4 cup Cocoa Powder
2 cups Cane Sugar
1 1/2 tsps Baking Powder
1 1/2 tsps Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
1 cup Whole Milk
2 Large Eggs
1 tb Vanilla Extract
1 cup Boiling Water
Steps
- Using 2 9in cake tins cut round of parchment paper to fit each tin
- Grease each tin & insert parchment paper round. Grease again.
- Put 2 tbs Cocoa Powder into bottom of first tin. Shake tin so 2 tbs Cocoa Powder evenly covers bottom and sides. Shake excess into second tin and repeat. Discard any excess
- In mixing bowl combine 1 3/4 cups All Purpose Flour, 3/4 cup Cocoa Powder, 2 cups Cane Sugar, 1 1/2 tsps Baking Powder, 1 1/2 tsps Baking Soda, and 1 tsp Salt. Stir to combine.
- Add 1 cup Whole Milk, 1/2 cup Melted Unsalted Butter, 2 Large Eggs, and 1 tb Vanilla Extract. Stir to combine.
- Carefully add 1 cup Boiling Water. Batter will become very thin. Be sure to scrape buttom of bowl to ensure everything's incorporated
- Divide batter between 2 tins
- Bake 350°F for 30 minutes until a skewer comes out clean
